18.03.2025: HIT Member question: Why is IDP stock down over the last few months?Answer: The recent IELTS results show that NPAT was down over 40%, with revenue down over 18%. With the new U.S. policy enacting a travel ban on individuals from 43 countries, we anticipate a slowdown in student visa intake as well. This may impact the already struggling education sector, and HIT members should take into account the risks posed by IDP Education. All these factors have exacerbated the fall of over 20% in IDP's stock.

05.02.2025:HIT Member question: Which dividend stock is best to buy at current market valuations, BHP or FMG?Answer: Both BHP and FMG are heavily reliant on the market prices of the commodities they mine, including iron ore, Potash, copper and coal. As cyclical stocks, their profitability is closely tied to demand from China. Iron ore prices have declined by 18% this year, with FMG down 35% and BHP down 14%. While both companies pay dividends, these payouts will be influenced by their financial performance at year-end. HIT members favor BHP due to its larger size, consistent long-term performance, and reliable dividend payments.
12.01.2025:HIT Member question: what is DeepSeek and why has it crashed the semiconductor market in the US overnight?Answer: the NASDAQ fell by over 3% overnight. Semiconductor stocks saw a sharp decline on Monday amid growing fears of an AI stock bubble bursting. This was triggered by the emergence of Chinese startup DeepSeek, which offers an open-source reasoning model developed at a fraction of the cost of traditional AI systems, with less reliance on NVIDIA chips and other hardware. DeepSeek’s disruptive approach has raised concerns about reduced demand for high-end semiconductors.Adding to this, most IT stocks are already trading at high valuations, making them vulnerable to profit-taking. The market's recent volatility has also prompted investors to rotate into defensive stocks, further pressuring the tech sector. This combination of factors has amplified the selloff in semiconductor stocks.

24.12.2024:HIT Member question: why are so many companies this year under the spotlight for corporate governance issues?Answer: Several companies, including Qantas, Mineral Resources, Wisetech Limited, and Super Retail Group, are currently facing allegations of misconduct, including the improper use of company funds for personal gain and misuse. These issues have resulted in significant reputational damage, loss of productivity, and could potentially harm long-standing customer relationships and sales. As the saying goes, "It takes years to build a reputation, but only minutes to destroy it." Given these concerns, investors should carefully reassess the impact of management practices/remuneration/use of funds, on the businesses they are considering for investment.

21.10.2024: HIT Member question: Why has the stock price for Wisetech (WTC) fallen today?Answer: The recent 14% drop in WTC's stock price can be linked to allegations against the company's CEO, accusing him of misappropriation of funds and engaging in unethical practices, including seeking unsolicited favors in exchange for investments. These claims, which arose from a whistleblower's report, have led to significant concerns among investors. The CEO has denied the accusations, calling them baseless and malicious, while the company has initiated an internal review to investigate the matter. These developments have sparked a crisis of confidence among shareholders, resulting in the dramatic stock drop as the market responds to the uncertainty surrounding the CEO's actions.

This may be seen as a tailwind for stimulating the already struggling international student study market and may improve revenues. However, there are too many uncertainties, such as an incoming new CFO and the federal budget changes announced yesterday in Australia and as well as English testing changes in Canada, which are impacting the share price. (IEL)is down 40% for the year.Listen to our comments here: https://youtu.be/s7gsbC1XwuU 12.05.2024: Question by HIT member: (REA) had a very good quarter, what are your views on this stock?Answer: REA generates most of its core revenue through permissible activities such as online digital advertising, property listing, and data management services. Each individual has a different capacity for risk, which determines the extent of discomfort they're willing to endure during a downturn. It's crucial to determine your investment time horizon and remember that shares represent partial ownership in a company, not mere pieces of paper to be traded.Listen to our comments here: https://youtu.be/NLePtFgIw_ 26.04.2024: (NCK) is doing a cap raise of $46M to acquire a UK listed furniture brand. This will dilute shareholder equity, however the market seems to be pricing in the future growth and expansion that will come with the acquisition. The share price moved up 15% today. Our HIT members prefer (TPW) in this segment for now. 24.04.2024: (CWY) has clarified media speculation that it has not received nor is it in talks with seven media for a takeover. Pushing the share price back down by 11% today, after it ran up over 15 % yesterday. 20.04.2024: No sign of the stock market letting up in the US overnight. The IT sector in the US is under a bit of pressure and a lot of profit taking has been seen over the last week. We have also seen (PME)(TNE)(HSN) (WTC) pull back significantly. Overvalued stocks will see some corrections, so be prepared for volatility. 16.04.2024: Lots of uncertainty in the market, negative geopolitical events may have adverse impact on portfolios. Manage risk effectively and a quick reminder that a loss of 20% on a portfolio will require a 25% gain to revert to original value. 12.04.2024: Question by HIT member: Why are consumers flocking to buy Gold at Costco stores in the US?Answer: The gold price has hit new highs, and the move is supported by investors' sentiment that a market rate cut is on the horizon. It's always been a good hedge against inflation, and investors looking to diversify are investing in gold in droves over the last couple of months. This is mostly a safe haven buy, and we think that the prices for most producers that HIT members follow (NST) (RMS) (SLR) (GOR) can potentially see an upside of 10%. For those looking to hold physical gold, it may be a little late as the price has moved up quite a bit, and gold being a cyclical commodity, mostly reverts back to the mean. The prospect of rate cuts, not too much in the distant future, has definitely acted as a tailwind and will add fuel to the demand, pushing prices higher. For those who like to invest in the touch and feel of gold, it's also available at Costco (US only), where you could just walk in and buy. For Oz investors, buy from registered dealers, who may also be able to provide you with a certificate of authenticity. 08.04.2024: Question by HIT member: is(RMD) still a buy?Answer: Resmed(RMD) share price had been greatly influenced by the introduction of Ozempic to the market as a wonder drug that may reduce the dependence on the Pap machine for sleep apnea patients. This has led to a fall in revenue and projected to continue to face a tough road ahead. HIT members think, Share price is fairly valued right now . We are not buying (RMD) until we have a clear guidance on the future of this medication and it's impact on the Australian market. 05.04.2024: There is a lot of uncertainty in the short term with respect to the rates and the general direction the FED will take. Macro factors are having a minor impact currently on our markets. Holding on to companies with long term sustainable growth will fare well in these times. HIT members have identified (JLG) as one such defensive investment. 03.04.2024: Question by HIT member: Any good dividend etfs in early up trend to park the cash in?Answer: with an ETF we at HIT are not aware of any that is shariah complaint at the moment in Australia. The issue is with the underlying basket of securites , most managers have their own criteria for selecting stocks which may not satisfy Islamic principles of investment. Please message us if you are aware of any that pass through Islamic shariah filters. 02.04.2024: Retail ( consumer discretionary) under a lot of pressure of late. Be cautious with new investments, most stocks (PMV), (LOV) are overvalued. Some HIT members are looking at (AX1). Slow growth, but good for long term dividend investment and currently trading at a low PE of 16. 28.03.2024: Question by HIT member: what are your views on ProMedicus?Answer: (PME) is a fast growing medtech company with extremely high valuations. This has been a steady performer and has been growing at a CAGR of 19% over the last 10 years. It is held by many of our members and could be a good long term hold. We are expecting to see a revenue uptick if it is able to migrate it's software on the AI wave and move forward with the apple mixed reality diagnostic imaging software. 24.03.2024: Question by HIT member: what is your style of investment? I wouldn't throw caution to the wind. Invest in quality companies and names that support long-term growth. We are watching the healthcare sector for bargains; names such as (CSL) have already been picked up. 23.03.2024: Question by HIT member: You look at mainly fundamentals or technical?Answer: Fundamental analysis can be used for qualitative and quantitative assessment of a company where as Technical analysis can help with timing and general market sentiment analysis. Best is to use a combination of both which is what i use. listen to our comments: https://youtu.be/px42dX8yFYg 20.03.2024: (SHL) has proceeded with another strategic acquisition of Switzerland based medical lab Dr Risch laboratory group. We have a detail answer on our member website. Here:www.starkconsulting.biz/services/lng/ 18.03.2024: Question by HIT member: what's the outlook for (BHP)?Answer: Many analysts are of the view that with sustained slow down in iron ore prices, weaker demand from China and the property sector in general, will act as head winds and impact (BHP)negatively. However, some of our Dividend investors (5.5% yield) are still holding on despite a fall of 14% in share price year to date. 16.03.2024: Update on Nickel: The commodity has been under tremendous pressure after Indonesia has ramped up production of its low cost Nickle ore. Price per ton has fallen a lot, with Chinese demand for EV related batteries slowing down since last year. Demand for the metal still persists but supply is overwhelming the market. The stock has run up over 30% since then. Valuations are very high and the Stock is trading at all time highs and many analysts are of the opinion that it's trading at its intrinsic value. Many members have trimmed their current positions. We would not buy at these levels and will wait for valuations to become more attractive. Listen to our comments on WTC: https://youtu.be/MZbybRCMbDk 21.02.2024: Important update: (DTL) Data#3, does not pass our sharia filters, company has excessive cash holdings. Its share price has been languishing over the last 4 years, and after hitting a peak of $20, it fell by over 80% and hasn't recovered since. A2M sales are very dependent on infant milk formula (IMF) sales in the Chinese market and were supported by the Daigou channel, which used to carry the product to the mainland. Since the pandemic eased, sales have dropped; IMF market and Daigou channel have been down, and the newborn birth rate in China has slowed down. Their sales in the ANZ market (locally) have not improved either. This notwithstanding, the fact that they have a strong balance sheet and have been quite resilient in the face of tough market conditions. I would not buy here until I see some more stability in revenue and earnings over the long term. Is the Rumble stock (RUM) the new social media platform halal to invest in. Jazakallah kheirAnswer: ASA Brother, One of the primary principles of sharia compliant investing is making sure that the core activities of the business is Halal. Ulema' have outlined business activities that are not-permissible and this includes a company engaged in the production/ distribution of media related content. This would mean that the NASDAQ listed RUMBLE would not pass the filters and we would not be investing in this company. Similarly in Australia some companies that engage in supplying media content are, OML, NWS, SWM, NEC etc. 26.09.2023: One to add to watchlist and not to chase: PME up 9% on news of signing 140 mill sales contract..🚀 25.09.2023: Looks like the petrol prices are going to impact businesses and motivate the FED to consider raising the rates one more time this year. Answer: the RBA has not flagged that the rates will not go higher, in fact the market sentiment is that the current rates will stay higher for longer. Maybe get used to paying the extra $250 per month on your debt repayments over the next couple of years. This may however give confidence to home builders to come back to the market and we may see new building activity in oz. With the Australian dollar lower now, will also attract overseas investors. Admin would wait for a better discount 25.08.2023: Question posted by HIT member: which broker is the best for trading stocks in Australia? Answer: I learnt it the hard way, by trial and error. there are two considerations that you have to take into account: what are the features/support being offered? and what are my costs/risks? In terms of features i would look for broker research reports, customer support, call centre, iress platform, easy to use interface and frequency of trading (day trading (not allowed in Islam)/investing). When it comes to cost/risks, I would watch out for custodial services, brokerage fees, buy sell spreads, orders not getting filled, online V/s phone based customer support, security with investments, cancellation of orders, withdrawal and deposit charges. The most popular brokers in Oz are: commsec, nabtrade, interactive brokers, selfwealth, stake, trading view, IG markets, Thinkmarkets. Best with features: Commsec and Nabtrade, Best with costs: Selfwealth and Stake, Best for new starts: Commsec and Nabtrade, Best for seasoned traders: Stake, Trading view, Best with features and costs: Interactive brokers. What do i use? I have accounts with commsec, nabtrade, trading view, selfwealth, Thinkmarkets, Stake and interactive brokers. I use each one intermittently for research and placing trades. 24.08.2023: Question posted by HIT member: Is DTL (Data#3: ) a buy today?:Answer: Admin and some HIT Members are proceeding with caution. company stock has moved up 12% over the last 2 days and potential for volatility is high. for those looking to bear a short term downtrend of over 10% may consider buying and holding. The best approach would be to wait for the reporting season to finish and then buy a small parcel, adding on an incremental basis, a resonable discounted price would be $6.40. This should give a sufficient margin of safety to investors. PE steady at the moment at 28. Halal investing group (HIT) sees a potential 25% upside over the next 12 to 18 months with DTL (Data#3). Downside factors that have been considered are inflation, slowing of government spending, stability in employment, general (multiple) PE of the technology sector on Australia and US. Expect a bear term 6 -10% pain on the downside.Expect short term volatility as the annual reporting season is under way. DTL has reported two days ago with very strong numbers. Admin and some HIT will accumulate small positions over time. 24.08.2023: Question posted by HIT member: which stock is better: TNE (Technology one) or DTL (Data#3 :) : Answer: TNE and DTL both form part of the S&P/ASX 200 Information Technology index. TNE is far superior in terms of debt, inventory, payables and receivables management. TNE has higher net profit and gross profit margins giving it a wider berth, DTL survives on 1-2 % margins which may make it vulnerable to tough sales conditions. Due to the high sales turnover with DTL they have to manage their expenses by maintaining a higher cash balance and hence has a higher accounts receivable and payable. TNE is a far better investment and is a stable compounder.

Dividend yield is at 5.5% and BHP has a history of maintaining dividends however the yield may be offset by dividend adjusted stock price/ declines due to market conditions 27.12.2023: We have all heard of bulls and bears, and now we have the goldilocks scenario which is ideal for investing. Some profit taking going on since the start of this month. 18.09.2023: Is it time to buy travel stocks? . Hello world travel (HLO) had a good result this year. The price has already moved up over 100% year to date.
